Trouble is am i willing to pay the price, to sacrifice what i love doing in order to do it. Yes i am. I need to realise that my business will take me a year to become really succesful and be making millions. In the meantime i can be doing what i passionately love as a hobbie, riding horses in the evenings and getting my qualifications. I can also be doing other things i enjoy like spending time with my love and dancing! Okay so 9-5 five days a week is going to be hard and it will probably mean working weekends to do the paperwork and stratergy planning that needs to be done. However the reason i want to do this is so that i can have the money i need to setup my own animal sanctuary and protect animals from harm, whilst also doing something i love, working with animals!
I have now learnt that in order to be pro-active with my goals i need to break them down into baby steps which i can achieve. So here is an outline of what i have achieved so far:
1. Step One: Setup the business ( registered a company name, done all the lagal bureaucracy! Leant how to file my own company accounts! Cost me a £100 but better than having to pay £50 a year for someone else to do them. This is while the company is classed as dormant of course. When i start making money i will have to have an accountant. Something which i need to look into now. The costs etc.
2.Step Two: Register a domain( okay i have done this, the domain is relevant to the company. I don’t want to display it here as it will be googled and i don’t want it to lead to my personal stuff.) If anyone would like the link in private do ask, you can let me know what you think.
3.Step three: Set-up a website ( Yes i have done this. The website is flash, i have done all the content on the site but i do need to update it and make it more marketing specific as i have included extra services like web-services and hosting, that i do offer and business development services. However this is somewhat irrelvant to the main services i offer. I need to make it clear so that a 10 year old could understand what i’m offering. If my little brother can’t, then i shouldn’t expect business owners too, as when consulting regarding marketing, they also have little expereince, that’s why they are asking for advice and support!...I need to recognise this and adapt my website to my target audience.
4. Step four- Buy in the data of the companies i wish to contact and sell my serivces too. – again i have done this – I have alot of data. I may need to get an updated cd by the time i wish to re-launch the business.
5. Step five : Design an information pack for prospective clients letting them know what service you offer – again i have done this in pdf format, however i would like it done at a more professional level. I know some printers who i could get a good deal from on this front.
6. Step Six : Evaluate the competition: – i have done this, i have researched my several hundred competitors. I have done research, enquired about there services, done mystery calling etc.
7. Step seven : Outline the services and the prices of my services and know them in detail. – I have done this but i’ve gone into too much detail. I need to make it simpler. Be specific to the point, make the offers more understandable. It’s abit too confusing at the moment.
8. Step Eight : Get a database to store my contacts and notes about client activity and prospecting. -I have act database which i find very effective.
9. Step Nine : Trial out my work – I have contacted several hundred businesses of which 97 of these showed a real interest in taking my services. I didn’t follow through with full sales because i didn’t really have the confidence to ask for the sale at the time (£3k per contract), to overcome this, i think the best thing to do is to send an invoice to the client, i have now set one up, and fax it across. That way i can let the client know that i am getting on with the job and faxing the invoice over which needs to be paid within 28 days. I borrowed my bf’s mums office to do my work, all i needed was a phone and a computer and some guts! and my service obviously, which is unique to me.
Step 10: Take the order: My bf’s mum and i had a disagreement and i had to move out of the office, i got a full time job, as i did 25 hours there and 25 hours on my business previously. The full time hours prevented me from doing my business. I had to leave all those great contacts to go onto my competition! Oh well there plenty more fish. My target market is the whole 2.2 million businesses in the UK so it’s pretty good! I became unhappy working 9-5 and my boyfreind saw it, he also thought i was dreaming trying to run my own business i think. Something i know not to be true! The only thing that prevented the sale was fear of asking for it and getting rejected. I have a stratergy now for overcoming this. This was a low point in my life where i just wanted to be happy working with horses also. So what happened is within a couple of months i ended up going back to doncaster to do my riding course. I have been broke since lol. I have had new business ideas since, but i know this is the one that has the potential to make millions.
I can’t really reveal it here, until i’m a millionaire of course. All i will say is that my work with a advertising company on 20k + bonus in surrey talking to directors about how they got into business really helped. I would say that the best thing to do is to contact all your competition, find out how they did it and set about it!
Now i just need to get back on track financially so i can support myself whilst i run my business and go to riding lessons in the evenings. A driving test is important to pass this year also to meet clients if neccesary!
So NEXT STEPS:
Step 11: Notice what was working and what wasn’t, change what i’m doing and therefore change the outcome! (i’m working on this now)
Step 12: Work on my website and literature revising it and re-pricing until june when my bhs one exam finishes.
Step 13: Get a full time job on 15k -18k ( save £700.00 monthly) until october. This gives me £2100 to play with.
Step14 : From here, move out of dads into a houseshare on ( £300 a month all inclusive). Get phone line and internet installed. Get computer setup and buy data *£200.00 for access to all uk data.
Step 15: Get part time evening job, make £500.00 monthly to support myself financially to pay my rent. This can be done evenings or weekends.
Step 16: Work on my business in the day, brush up my sales skills, start calling day in day out for 8 hours daily, with atleast 3 hours on the phone adn 110 calls. Set a weekly target of £1000.00 To start. Start small, work up to the better money, give someone a good deal get them on board and ask for testimonials for website!
Step 17: Do the marketing work required for the client, invoice them and ask for recommendations. Accept £1000.00 payment within 28days.
Step 18: Keep building up, don’t spend money, take on employees , work from home, set targets to get clients and give them bonus when they do. Keep working solo to maintain the business if the initial employee doesn’t work, but dont give up. Expanding the people in the business is the only way to become mega rich!
Step 18~: When i have employees running the business, sit back, do the strategy and enjoy the money rolling in. Start work on my new projects like setting up an animal shelter and hand my business over to a entrepreneur who wants to be a good manager for a big salary!
Step 19: Create ongoing residual income from my businesses
Step 20: Become rich, donate to charity, setup my own charitable organisations, ride horses, buy a house, get marries, manage my businesses, lead them into the future!
Remember always why i want to be rich! To contribute to society and the universe!
