This can be just as effective. I have written all my tasks and projects in one spreadsheet and put filters on the titles. So what i can do now for example is look for all the financial tasks that are urgent required this year on a particular month, or all the happiness goals i want to achieve for a particular month that are of high priority. This spreadsheet is very effective way of managing projects at low cost as alot of these programs require cash to buy or run. Unless you have someone who is able to get you a key for these things, then an excel spreadsheet is one of the most useful options i feel. I’ve resorted to excel and outlook for everything lately. I find it best to have everything in one place. I should back things up though :)

Today i have called psychic network and cancelled my subscription. I have also cancelled my magazine subscribtion to free up some cash. I have added a label to my computer that says what’s the next action and have a in tray, a project list and this is really as far as i have got on this one. I’m going to make sure that i add all my porjects to the list today to act as an in tray destination. I will then work on proccessing the items. I have downloaded VIP to do list and am going to see how this works.
When i have read the book and put the essentials into practice or scheduled the essential things to take place.
At the moment i’m working in outlook, My paper diary, my in tray, boxes and draws and several files. My system is semi-effective. I’m also using microsoft money. I still think my organisation could be better. I think when i solve the financial issues though i solve the majority as i have an internal compass for everything else.
Maybe i’ll just get a money tree LOL. My grandma has one and she’s never short!
I’m taking this book to read on the train journey tommorow so i’ll finish it, then i can continue implementing until i reach a level i can say that this goal is complete.
I’ve finally got on top of my papers. I still need a a-z referencing system such as the one suggested by david allen. For now though my in tray is working effectively meaning i can handle my incoming mail, deal with it, do something about it, file it or throw it away. It’s quick and easy. I’m going to try indexing my computer alphabetically also and catergorically.
As suggested in the getting things organised section, i got myself an in tray! It actually feels good. I have all my important stuff in the top and all the things to file in the bottom!! I’ve also got some reference folders today and some notepads. I’ve read some more pages around 20 today on the bus, and i will read some more tonight! I’m really getting into this. I can’t wait until my operating system is reinstalled so i can start working in outlook and using project management software. I have asked my boyfriend to download me things in future as i’m kind of a hazard lol!
I managed to infect my computer with numerous trogans and spyware virus’s by trying to install a project manager off the net! That will teach me! Oh well i guess i can see this as something else in my life to be grateful for. If i hadn’t realised what weak protection and measure i have in place on my computer it may not have lasted until the end of this year. I’m working now on getting it back up to speed. I have logged my tasks and appointments in microsoft outlook and also in my journal’s online & offline and feel more comfortable about my current goals.
It’s called getting things done by david allen. He has some fantastic procedures for managing your schedule effectively! I’m very impressed. I’m going to write brief entries regarding my progress daily with regards to time management. I feel that this would be very benificial.
