Enjoying it

I’ve now nearly finished chapter 5 of the book. I still don’t feel hugely confident with PHP, but I’m getting there. I’m just waiting for it to “click” in my brain.
In the mean time I’m finding it rather interesting. When I visit PHP based webpages I find myself thinking about the code behind it and how I would go about producing my own version of a concept, from the knowledge that I have so far.
The book that I’m working through is designed to help the reader build a commerical PHP site but I’m getting a lot of inspiration to create a personal website from it. I think that will be my project when I finish the book.

I’m working through the book and I’ve just completed chapter 4 of 12. Things are going well so far; I’ve hit a few bumps but I’ve been able to fix the errors that I’ve come across and there’s nothing that I don’t understand yet. So far so good!

I used to be very into web design many years ago before PHP existed, and I used to run my own website. I’m still interested in computers but I’m not quite sure where my enthusiasm for web design went.
I would like to get back into it, but the things that I used to know are very outdated now so I’d like to learn PHP. I’ve got plenty of programming experience, but I always find it tough getting “into” a new language. Fortunately my boyfriend is something of a PHP expert which will be helpful if I get stuck, and hopefully he’ll help keep me motivated too :)
