My sister just graduated with a degree in nutrition; I usually go to her for all my advice. What she said that helped me the most is once she told me that the key isn’t counting calories or cutting out fat but eating as close to the ground as possible. This means eating things that aren’t processed, no matter how “low fat” they are, more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, even butter and sugar as long as they’re natural and not ate in too much of an excess. I’ve found this to work quite well. I never diet and never scrutinize what I eat. Think about it as a life style change rather than a temporary diet.
