I think one of the reasons I’ve had trouble lately maintaining my practice is because I get in the rut of following the same tape or CD. This week my best practices were ones where I had no cd or tape with me. This morning, I’ve no time to practice, as I’ve just used up my practice time assessing how to improve the quality of my practices.
Just a down dog or two before I scoot.

Shortly after the last time I left an entry here, I pushed too hard with something beyond my abilities, and hurt myself. So I was off yoga for awhile and am now starting again, again.
Day one, morning practice done. Intend to do an evening practice.
I’m actually trying to do yoga twice a day if possible. But mostly trying to get back to the daily habit asap.
I came here, tail tucked between my legs, ready to start again, and was immediately confronted by my former self, crowing over having completed my first 7 in 7 in ages. “Featured Entry.” Ha!
The universe is conspiring again…
I did two shorter practices yesterday, one this morning, and I’ll do a little more when I come home. Unfortunately, the first 10 minutes of each session are mostly coughing. The yoga is loosening up all the gunk in my lungs, so I shouldn’t complain, but it takes over in a most unpleasant way. I wanted to start several days sooner but the coughing was even worse.
I can’t wait to really be doing yoga again!
The PAtricia Walden DVD was really great. I couldn’t do it every day – had to do the shorter practice sometimes, so as not to be too late for work, but still, I found myself craving the Patricia Walden. She’s an excellent teacher.
I going to try to do another seven days using the Rodney Yee AM Yoga when short on time, otherwise the Kathy Smith alternating with the PAtricia Walden. Patricia Walden is the better teacher, but there is a series on the Kathy Smith tape that my back is just craving!
Day 1 of my new week. I tried the Yoga for Beginners DVD (or some such name) by Patricia Walden today. It is long and many of the standing postures are very strenuous for me right now. Still, for this week I hope to continue exploring with this DVD. I’m not sure if I’ll have time to do the whole thing each morning, but it’s good to do some of the strengthening work, and to consider using some of the other asanas during the workday.
YIPEE!!!
It wasn’t anything spectacular, just the 20 minute Rodney Yee AM Yoga for beginners tape, but I did it every day! I can’t even say I did it every morning. Twice this week I did it at night before bedtime, which was a bit silly, since I ended up wide awake and energized.
But it’s the beginning of re-forming a broken habit. I know I’ll be glad of it. And though there are plenty more yoga goals to be set in the future, starting is the hardest part of all.
Happy me. :)
I had already decided to restart my yoga practice…as soon as I’d cleaned the space where I used to practice and returned from a work trip to New Orleans. Those both happened yesterday, and this morning I woke up to this lovely invite. Of course I’ll join! :)
