hem my pants

I am gradually making my way through the sewing/mending pile. This evening I finally got around to stitching up Anastasia’s overalls, which have snaps along the inseam. Overalls with snaps soon turn into chaps where toddlers are involved. They have cute little Xs on them now along the seam. I wonder what she will think when she tries to unsnap them tomorrow but can’t?

I think the key is taking things in small doses and doing a little bit each evening.

The hardest part was finding my pants. I thought that they were somewhere in the bonus room closet, and had a vague idea that they were in one of my many fabric stash tubs. (I put them there in a failed attempt to clean up the closet.) I eventually found both pairs after emptying the closet of most of its contents, which was no small feat. My DH was concerned as to what I was doing, but I explained that I desperately needed another pair of pants, as I have ahem, outgrown one of my pairs of work pants due to too much turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pie, etc. I can’t exactly wear only two pairs of pants to work; somebody might catch on eventually. Now I have three pairs of pants to wear, and a resolution to lay off the extra helpings. The funny part was that Anastasia overheard me explaining to my DH what was going on as I frantically searched all the upstairs closets for them. She was very concerned for me, following me around as I went.

“Mommy no have pants. Where Mommy pants go? Mommy’s pants in Ann-tasia’s closet?”
