So as for my first goal officially attempted, I do not have a clear or concise verdict. I truly tried my best to donate, but here’s what happened…
You need to weigh 110 lbs to doante blood, which despite being perfectly healthy, I do not weigh. But luckily I convinced them it was okay. So I sit down and watch as the guy next to me has his finger pricked, no problem. My turn, I happily offer up my finger, she pricks and I feel fine until…the next thing I know, my head is on the table and someone picks me up and lies me down on a cot. I fainted and had to be fanned and splash with water. ALL BEFORE THEY EVEN GOT A NEEDLE IN. I felt really sick, so I wolfed down a bag of Bits and Bites, Oatmeal cookies, OJ, roast chicken, rice and vegetables. Then I felt extremely sick.
Overall, the Red Cross thanked me profusely for trying to give blood, but said because I have type AB, it would be alright if I didn’t donate in the future. So guess I need a new goal :P

I feel so lucky to be living with such a kind, beautiful and honestly good person as K! She has the heart of a major do-gooder, but without ever coming across as preachy or holier than thou. Today we were discussing tattoos and she confessed one of her goals is to donate blood 300 times in her life. I’ve never given blood (even at the doctors, my veins are completely untouched), but she inspired me so much. It’s rare to be able to do something so simple and effortless that has such an impact on someone’s life. Plus, free cookies :)
