Took like, 45 mins, I dont remember anything. I feel fine, I got to kep my teeth,it was awesome.
- Edit Day 1
Now that I am semi coherent, I will detail…I walked in and signed some stuff, and they were already calling me back when I handed back the clipboard. I sat down, pretty much got the gas immediately, and that took a few minutes to make me feel different. Doc came in and we talked for a minute about my blood disorder, and then we got the IV in. The tournequette hurt the most out of the whole thing, surprisingly. I remember him telling me I would get a wierd taste in my mouth from the sedative, and not much after that. Vaguely remember going to the car in a wheelchair, then not much else.
BTW, General anesthesia has been mentioned alot, but that isnt what most people here have gotten. General requires intabation (sp?) where they put a tube in your throat. Most people have the IV sedative.
Anyways, I worried myself over nothing. It sucks a little now, because my pain meds dont seem to do much, but I’ll be alright.
- Edit Day 2
No swelling at all! No pain really, and I havent had a pill yet…the only one that hurts is the one that had to be cracked to get out. Only thing I have eaten in almost 48 hours is a few pudding cups, and some milk/seltzer water…
- Edit Day 3
Tad bit of swelling, but not much. It hurt the worst today, but again it wasnt really painful, just dull and persistant. Taking my meds every 3 hours or so, and I usually sleep for the last 2 of each. Still eating alot of pudding, a few bananas, milk, and those soup at hand things, I’m going to try and stick to softer stuff until my followup next week.
OH, Here’s a tip too.
CHECK YOUR BILL!!!!!!! I was sitting at my parent’s kitchen table, looking at how much it cost to have my teeth out, and they had “Impacted partial boney” down four times, for 380$ each….well I only had 3 taken out. We called, and sure enough they put it on through force of habit. None the less, it was still damn expensive…even with insurance.
- Edit Day 4
Not much more than a little soreness. Still not eating solid food, but that’s just me not wanting to. Range of motion still not great, and my jaw is slightly swollen still, but overall I feel fine. Took 3 tylenol this morning because I have to drive today, but when I get home I will probably indulge in a meprozine to help me sleep.
- Edit – Week after
My last stitch just fell out (shame, I have been absent mindedly playing with it with my tongue) and I can hardly tell I had them out. Bottom left side got a tad bit infected a few days ago, probably a piece of food, but it’s almost better. I m surprised how much of a difference they made, I really feel like I can move my jaw around more now, especially side to side. Holes are rather annoying to clean out, a good swishing usually does it though. Gotta watch hard food still, because if you bite it wrong and a sharp piece hits you there it’s still quite tender, but I’d say its like biting your tongue…it goes away after a second.
I am so glad this is in my past….it litterally cost me nights of sleep, caused a ton of anxiety, and pre-occupied my thoughts for weeks. It was not pleasant during the few minutes before I went under, my blood pressure and pulse were abnormally high because I was on the verge of a panic attack, but listen to them when they tell you to ONLY breathe through your nose lol…I was trying to delay going under I think, by breathing through my mouth with the nose cover on. Needle was nothing, and after that, like I said, I dont remember anything except proclaiming my ability to walk on my own.
(Here’s a tip: USE THE WHEELCHAIR, YOU CAN NOT WALK ON YOUR OWN NO MATTER HOW ARROGANT AND FULL OF PRIDE YOU ARE!!! Dont embarass yourself like I did ;)
Done.
