Someone I know went to have a smear test done. The nurse wasn’t going to give her one because she was only 20 years old, surely nothing can be wrong at 20 years old? After all the screening age is 25 for a reason. After persuading the nurse to give her a smear test, my friend was told 6 weeks later that she has pre-cancerous cells and would need laser treatment to remove them. Imagine if my friend had to wait until she was 25 to have a smear test done, how much worse it would have surely been. Please, get a smear test done when you reach 20, or are sexually active, they can save your live. My friend was lucky that she had it done that day, but so many other women don’t know how important smear tests are because they are not educated enough about them, but their lives can be saved too by going for smear tests regularly. Please tell someone you know and you could be saving their life!
