Every step of the way seemed to be a struggle after we made our offer – even down to our moving unit arriving a week late – but we are so happy to have our own little house. It costs less than renting, sorta – still spending lots of money on fixing things up the way we want them – and it’s so much more satisfying!

Our closing is scheduled for next Tuesday and our moving pod has been picked up for transport to Syracuse. Hopefully everything will go smoothly from here out.
We just got word that we are clear to close, so the lender has given the go-ahead and now we just have to set an appointment with the attorneys to actually close the deal on the house. Everything is coming together just in the nick of time, which is extremely stressful, but at least it’s finally happening! We expect to close in about a week, so hopefully everything continues smoothly for our relocation.
We are currently waiting for the lender’s appraisal, which is one of the last things we need to turn our conditional mortgage approval into full approval. The earliest that we can close is July 2, and I’ve scheduled our moving unit to arrive on July 3, so hopefully we will be able to schedule closing on July 2 or 3—but it (still!) all depends.
Our financing requires an appraisal and the timelines are very vague. We’re scheduled to close in 3 weeks but have few assurances. I guess we have to start planning like we’re really going to move in 3 weeks, even though it’s all so uncertain.
I wasn’t really worried about the home inspection as we looked it over pretty closely when we were house-hunting. But it’s a relief to know that the home inspector didn’t find anything scary—the only safety issues are electrical and the seller has already agreed to update the service to 100 amp. We’re just going to ask for the two ungrounded outlets to be updated as well, which should be a minor thing to add on since the electrician is already going to be there.
Hurray! One step closer.
The moment of truth arrives; I’m starting the mortgage application process. It scares the heck out of me but I’m sure it will all be fine.
We accepted the seller’s counter-offer, which seems quite fair. So we’re on our way toward closing in about 5 more weeks!
...we’ve made an offer and are on pins and needles waiting to find out if it’s accepted. We’re very hopeful because we really like the house and think we’ve made a reasonable offer.
