Get a new Computer

I broke down and bought a computer – the plan originally was to build my own. However with a wedding coming up I didn’t want to dump a lot into building on (right now). Plus time was a factor.

I went with a cheaper computer just to get me through the wedding – since I’ll be making a lot of wedding related items on the computer (invites, reply cards, a few photo projects, etc.). When you consider the cost we would pay for those things if we weren’t making them ourselves, well the money we saved there went towards the computer. :)

Well originally my tax refund was going to be put away for the wedding but right now I think it may have to go towards a new computer. The past week it’s been getting worse and worse – not a day goes by where the computer doesn’t lock up or automatically restart on me.

I’m not sure why but I’m draggin’ my feet on getting a new computer when in fact over this past week my current computer’s been nothing but trouble.

The plain fact of the matter is that any time I think about getting a new computer I instantly think of 10 other things that money should be going to. Then I stop looking at computer parts.

Of course the time may come when I have no choice… this computer could die at any second. :(

My computer’s not that old but it’s having some issues now running the programs that I need to run. I shouldn’t need to close everything else down just to be able to fire up Photoshop. And even then I can run into problems. The video card on here isn’t good and I need more memory. It’ll be a sad day when it comes time to convert this computer to another Linux box—we’ve been through so much together. *laugh*

Of course it will be a while since I’ll need to price out parts, buy them and then build the new computer, but at least it’ll be fun. :)
