Have my wisdom teeth taken out

I had my 5 wisdom teeth pulled out Wednesday morning. I was under IV sedation so I was out halfway through the surgery. For some reason I woke up while they were still doing my upper and lower left, but it was okay because I couldn’t feel anything and I was like floating in a dream. I remember my first thought being “Yaaay, I’m still alive and I can’t feel any pain!”. After 48 hours, there’s only mild pain and some swelling. I didn’t even have to use prescription pain killers; just some OTC Advil. The only thing I had to endure was the bleeding and the rancid taste in my mouth. And I’m starving for a big hunk of steak right now.

I just found out I have 5 wisdom teeth. “You must be a very smart girl”, my dentist joked. Somehow, I didn’t laugh. He wants to send me to an oral surgeon and have all 5 removed all at the same time. “To get it over and done with”, he said.

I don’t have dental insurance, but I don’t really mind the cost. I’d be one very happy girl once all these suckers are out of my mouth.

I guess I’ve been researching too much on the Internet. I’ve read all these stories about people having major complications like lingual nerve damage or facial paralysis and such after they had third molar extraction. Now, I’m scared to death but I do know that I want my wisdom teeth OUT. First thing tomorrow morning, I’ll call and badger the oral surgeon’s office.
