But not given up either. I think I have integrated the philosophy of just doing (at least sometimes) without endless analysis. What great concepts.

I just signed up for this program with the ToDo Institute. http://www.todoinstitute.org/ldlp_selfreflect.html The program requires about 30 minutes a day for the month of November. Here’s an little excerpt from their description:
This is a distance learning program which gives you an opportunity to integrate the practice of self-reflection into your daily life. The program is based primarily on Naikan and Naikan-related exercises, but also draws on material and ideas of Albert Schweitzer, Ben Franklin, and others whose work emphasized the importance of quiet self-reflection.
Anyone want to join me?
I just read a powerful little book titled Constructive Living by Dr. David K. Reynolds. Constructive Living is an adaptation of Japanese Morita Therapy and Naikan Therapy. It’s basis is that the only thing we can directly control is our behavior. Our feelings are not directly controllable, but we probably will feel better when we take constructive and appropriate action. A powerful concept and it makes so much sense to me – much more so than all that stuff about revisiting the past to understand our feelings. I got the book at Amazon.com for less than $10.00.
