What a wonderful surprise to receive birthday wishes from my 43T friends. My participation here has been so spotty this last year that I truly was surprised. It’s a great feeling knowing that I’ve got friends here and that I can stop in any time to chat, laugh, get or give support, learn something new, and motivate each other to reach our goals. Thank you so much for getting my birthday off to a lovely start.

I’m still horribly disorganized and struggling to find time for everything, including 43Things. But even if it means being late to work today, I just have to say Merry Christmas to my 43Things friends. And, if you don’t celebrate Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, or any other special occasion you are celebrating.
Thank you for the cards and messages. It’s nice to know that I’m thought about. It was a special treat to receive a card from the Chicago get-together. I miss you all and hope to be back soon.
Merry Christmas!
With love from Annie
This is making me crazy! I have posted 2 comments with images in this thread. The first one “Carolina Chickadees” has an image associated with it – you can see it in my aggregated feed and I can see it when I edit it. But I can’t change it and it doesn’t show up in the thread with the original posting.
The second comment “I’ll bet you didn’t see” also has a photo, but it shows up. There isn’t any difference in how I made these 2 comments!
Can anyone explain this?
Quite a few things have kept me distracted from 43T this year and some have been quite good. At the top of that list is the birth of my grand-daughter in early August. Here she is with my boys. Her uncle, my oldest, is holding her, and my baby is the proud daddy.
I’ve almost given up reading the news because it’s so depressing, but this story was different. If you believe in equality, acceptance, friendship, and courage, it’s a must read.
My dogs usually don’t stay outside for long. But tonight I let them out after their dinner (in the fenced backyard) and 10 or 15 minutes later they still hadn’t come to the door. First I checked the front gate to see if their babysitter had accidentally left it open, but it was closed. Then I went searching in the backyard. Finally I saw them on the other side of the fence. Then I saw that the side gate was open. Boy dog always comes when called, but girl dog likes to run. Fortunately they both came to me tonight. We went inside and I saw that they were soaking wet and covered with mud. And it was 36 degrees an hour earlier! I wanted to take photos of their cute little muddy faces, but could not waste any time getting them into the bathtub. Fortunately, even without a collar, both dogs obey the “Get in the tub!” command. Not exactly roses and candy for Valentine’s Day, but I’ve got puppy love! Now to go mop my bathroom.
This morning I had given 4342 cheers. I came home tonight and it said that I’d given 4300 cheers. I checked and sure enough, I was subscribed to one less person than this morning. I don’t mean the number of people who are subscribed to me; I can live with that number dropping. I’m talking about the people that I subscribe to. Cleaning out the dead accounts needs to be done. But … I just hate trying to figure out who is missing. It just makes me feel so disoriented, off balance, uncomfortable. Someone is missing and I don’t know who it is. Does this make anyone else crazy, too?
Today I stumbled across something that I’d printed a year ago. It’s Ten Goals Worth Pursuing from The GoalsGuy. It makes a good checklist for ensuring you have goals in different areas of your life. The other lists are pretty good, too. Some helpful ideas as we start a new year.
That’s what my 43Peeps page says. I’ve been pretty stressed so far this year, but this made me laugh and say to myself, “Well, it’s not that bad!”
I posted this last year, but I wanted to share it with you again. It is from The Art of Living by Wilferd Peterson.
The art of thanksgiving is “thanksliving”. It is gratitude in action. It is applying Albert Schweitzer’s philosophy: “In gratitude for your own good fortune you must render in return some sacrifice of your life for other life.”
- It is being thankful for the gift of life by living it triumphantly.
- It is being thankful for your talents and abilities by accepting them as obligations to be invested for the common good.
- It is being thankful for all that others have done for you by doing things for others.
- It is being thankful for opportunities by accepting them as a challenge to achievement.
- It is being thankful for happiness by striving to make others happy.
- It is being thankful for beauty by helping to make the world more beautiful.
- It is being thankful for inspiration by trying to be an inspiration to others.
- It is being thankful for health and strength by the care and reverence you show your body.
- It is being thankful for the creative ideas that enrich life by adding your own creative contributions to human progress.
- It is being thankful for each new day by living it to the fullest.
- It is being thankful by giving hands, arms, legs, and voice to your thankful spirit.
- It is adding to your prayers of thanksgiving, acts of “thanksliving”.
