I was at a friend’s house today who’s been playing the piano for years. I told her I’m interested in learning, and she taught me some things about the keys, which I remember well, and I even played a few notes of Heart and Soul. When I sat down at her piano, I felt good and felt a strange sense of comfort. I knew from that moment that this is something I definitely want to and can do, no matter how long it takes for me to master. I can’t wait to start lessons! There’s so many songs I want to learn how to play.

I was never really a musical person. I played the violin for a year and as time passed on, I quickly realized I had no interest in this instrument. I assumed maybe I was just not meant to play anything, so I began to focus on books and writing.
But for the past few months, for some strange reason, I’ve been considering the piano. For the longest time, I’ve pictured myself playing it. When I was little, I always used to play with this little piano and then we had a few of those children’s keyboards. My mother told me several times in the past that I have piano fingers. I love listening to music and every time a song has a piano in it, that’s always the part that’s the most appealing to me.
Yesterday I got so excited about this new interest. Thinking about all the songs that I could learn got me so anxious! Before I begin lessons or ask for a good keyboard, I want be 100% positive that this is definately something I want to try. I began to search for books online about the piano that I can look through to see if this is something I want to do. The Piano Handbook: A Complete Guide for Mastering Piano by Carl Humphries looks like a reliable source. I want to do a little more thinking on this before I take another step in this goal.
