We usually eat very healthy deserts (apple crisp, 60% dark chocolate, pie crusts made with flaxseed, etc.). But ice cream, because we buy it from the store, is both ridiculously expensive and full of colorings, preservatives, and antifreeze. If I could just learn to make ice cream, I could make it from real ingredients, cut the sugar just a tad, use organic cream… ah, what a thought.
I want to make the mint chocolate chip ice cream from the SimplyRecipes site. That means I need to plant a bunch of mint this spring-mine died. (How’s that happen? Mint should take over, not die out :/) The recipe calls for three packed cups of fresh mint. Sounds delicious, but it means I’ll have to wait till summer to try this out. Which is reasonable anyway, seeing as it’s ice cream.
So wish me luck!
