Once we get a house, this is a top priority. My roommate in college’s family always had foreign exchange students, and they would come and visit us sometimes.
To me, the whole process helps broaden both you and the student’s perspective. Even if they haven’t new and interesting perspectives, just hearing a foreigner speak the English language is so interesting. We speak our own language like a wheel staying on a track, and we rarely use unexpected words or sequences of words. We all communicate an idea in roughly the same way, when there are so many more variations of it that the non-native speakers seem to find.
Plus, it’s doing a part to make the world smaller while helping a student out.
