I am watching “Searching for Debra Winger” that was directed by Rosanna Arquette as I write this. This movie really makes me feel even more that I need to become a film director to help give the women in Hollywood another choice for work out there. I need to become an indy film director that offers powerful roles primarly for older women. Those are the women I want to work with anyway. I don’t care too much about hiring the next new starlet. I am more interested in working with the real, established talent in American Film. I had no idea that the world of film was becoming so stifling for women (AGAIN!).
I guess I’ll just have to become one of those “amazing directors” that talented actresses (and actors) want to work with so that I can give those women the work they want and need (and America frankly needs).
I don’t know if I’ll ever get a real chance to direct a film but I know I can do a better job than most of the jokers out there doing the job currently. Maybe I’ll somehow convince another Indy out there who is making it to give me a chance, one of these days. Or maybe I’ll get a chance to go back to school so I can study it the traditional route.
