Well, a “friend” threw a party the same nightas mine, even though I planned mine weeks before he did. WHat a dick…
A few people didn’t show up that said they would. I question their absence in light of the other “party.”
All in all, I was very proud of how nice the place looked. I worked my ASS off to clean it and get it ready. Now, don’t think that my closets weren’t a private hiding place for miscellaneous valuables… :)
I made all of the food myself to try and save money, and people seemed to really like it. I love entertaining and feeding people. I live alone so I don’t get much response from my cat when I cook something good!
So about 10 people came and stayed until about 11:30. Not sure if it’s the getting older factor there… And I bought little gifts at the dollar store for a fun twist. Instead of mingling and going out on the balcony, everyone just made a big circle in the livign room. It was different that what I thought, but I appreciated everyone coming by who did!
So now I can check this off my list and put up another “thing!”

I sent out an RSVP reminder on Sat. and my worries were realized when of the 18 new people replied…ALL 18 can’t make it! I’m not sure why, but it feels like a failure.
I went out for my first round of grocery shopping anyway. I’m going to try and look at it like the people who are coming are the ones making the effort and want to come anyway, right?
I have a bar set-up, drink umbrellas, great food, and lots to drink. Worst comes to worse, I don’t have to drive anywhere!

Today is August 12 and the party is on the 25th. I know I said I wasn’t going to stress, but WHY IN GOD”S NAME HAEN”T PEOPLE RSVP-ed! I invited lots of people from work, soccer (I play on two teams) and life in general. Out of about 50 invites only 18 have replied…and of the 18 only 10 can make it. Humpf…
Well, at least I won $150 in AC to help pay for the food and drinks. I’m still working on cleaning/moving in. It seems the more I try to clean, the messier it gets. I’ll just be repeating to myself…I’m not getting stressed…I’m not getting stressed…

Well, I’ve checked my e-vite every day, sometimes even twice a day. I need to let go and not worry about who shows up. The people that show up will be the people I really want to see anyway, right?
So far out of about 60 people, 9 are coming and 6 can’t because they have Kenny Chesney tickets or will be out of town. I get really annoyed with people who don’t even bother to respond…
Now it’s time to plan. I went to the thrift shop yesterday to look for serving platters but didn’t find any. I think I want to serve some fun drinks like Apple-tini’s and Cosmos, so I need some pitchers. My budget is REALLY tight, so I’ll have to plan carefully. Should I have activities?
The point is, I want to see friends and have a good time, and maybe get a little or a lotta drunk! I don’t have to drive anywhere!

I think the lowest point was when I “bought” my first place last July then found out a week and a half before I was supposed to move in that the contractor cancelled all cantracts and I was left homeless. I had turned in my 30 day notice to my landlord and was basically up shit’s creek.
A few miracles and some great friend’s later. I finally bought and moved in to my first place this spring. Now it’s time for the party.
I will tell you that my friends are from all over the DC metro area so one of my BIGGEST fears is that only a few people will show. But I’m sending out the invites early for the Aug. 25th date…we’ll see.
