Really crummy session today 23 months ago

Sadie kept refusing to do sit. I had to apply more and more pressure to her behind, and each time she took forever to sit. I’m a laid-back personality and I guess I’ve let my dog walk all over me… how do I make her perceive me as her leader, and obey? (Sigh)

Training continued 23 months ago

Our second training session was delayed; it took place this last Monday, November 26th.

Homework for the next two weeks: sit and stay; heel (last lesson’s homework included “loose on leash” and sit).

Next trainer session: Monday, December 10th.

Week One 2 years ago

We’re walking my dog, Sadie, using a “Sense-ible” harness now, and it’s already making a huge difference in her not pulling. Also doing other homework, including making Sadie sit before meals and petting; and my niece is the only one allowed to give Sadie treats now (highly supervised, of course)... we see our trainer again on Saturday, November 17.

and first obedience lesson was this afternoon. Everything went really well, and we will be having a session with our trainer every two weeks. My dog and I, and our whole family, have lots of homework… but this will be so worth it!

Aggressiveness Problems 2 years ago

Can aggressiveness problems be solved through training? My german shep./border collie cross has been threatening to bite my four-year-old niece, who lives with us. It has gotten really bad, and now I must keep them apart at all times. Obviously, I don’t want my niece to be harmed, and I also fear for my dog, since if she ever bit I assume she would probably have to be put down. Can any type of training solve this, or should I be placing my dog in a new home where there are no children?
