I won. I’m trying to be as gracious a winner as I am a loser, so I’m not going to do a dance or put 20 exclamation points after the “i won”. Even tho I want to. :)

Lost. Scrambled up pieces. On verge of losing again when Phil cedes game due to “obvious lack of interest on someone’s part”. Perhaps I should tackle “become a graceful loser” before the whole “play chess once a week” goal. Or maybe I”m working on the two simultaneously
monday, cafe 360: i lost. No biggie. Phil says he likes playing me because we’re evenly matched. I don’t know how even we are, considering I have yet to win. I wish i could make my brain work better.
Played last week against Phil. And lost. And didn’t burn with shame and spurn the game forever. Actually made me want to play more so that I can get good enough to beat him.
My boyfriend always nags the hell out of me to play him, mainly because he won the first and only time we played. I have a hard time concentrating when I play him face-to-face, mostly because his ADD gets displaced onto me somehow. I swear chess is the only time I’ve ever seen that kid hold onto a singular traino f thought for more than 2 minutes. So anyway, I set up my board here today, and I’m going to go out tomorrow to buy a couple of books of stamps and some envelopes so we can play by snail mail. Quirky, but sounds like fun.
I still keep in touch sporadically with my first boyfriend from H.S., mainly thru random emails and holiday cards here and there. He recently emailed me after like 6 months of being incommunicado, so I zapped him a chess postcard, which is like free email correspndence chess. He’s such a dork, he’ll love it, and I woudln’t be surprised is this sparks a standing chess match :)
I’ve never been a prodigy or anythign at chess, but I was highly decent and a somewhat formidable foe. I’m so scatterbrained now that I can’t concentrate on anything these days, much less formulate strategies on a chessboard. Maybe with practice I’ll be able strengthen my focus. My best friend is home from college, and even tho he lives 2 hours away, maybe i can get him to play me online or something.
