Walk across America

It seems to me that, in order to walk across America, a person must either (A) be independently wealthy, and not need to work, or (B) have absolutely no responsibilities at all.

Looks like I will have to wait until I’m independently wealthy! But I still want to do this some day.

I know, the frontier days are gone. Where Joseph T. Walker and Jim Bridger and Kit Carson encountered plains and buffalo and adventure, I would encounter shopping malls, towns and cities, and throngs of people. But sometimes the joy of an adventure is in the simple accomplishment of the goal, rather than some grand prize at the end of the trail.
