Make a soundtrack for my life

I used to love this song. It came out in 1995, there was a lot going on in my life at this time. My friends and I listened to this song on a bus trip from Texas to Washington D.C. We also took a picture with 5 dollar bills stuck to our forheads. The DJ played this at my sweet sixteen party too. I can recall plenty of fun nights doing things I had no business doing with this song playing.

It was April 1998, me and my girls were riding down I-45 south to Galveston. Tmac had the Neon bumping loudly as we made our way to Kappa Beach Party. This was our fisrt time going to the infamous weekend gathering, or meat market I must say. We were so excited, this was our first time going, we were young and sexy. While we are getting crunk to the songs, Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Starting Something came on. We turned the whole car into a drum, stage, microphone and whatever else we needed to get the party started. Our favorite part was the end when he says “mamma say, mamma sa, muma ku sa” or however you spell it. All the cars passing were staring at us, waving, laughing, and just catching our vibe bouncing off the highway. It was good start to a fun weekend.

Lately i’ve been hearing songs that take me back to a day in my life. The first few seconds of the song and i’m right back were I was those few years ago. I love that feeling of instant remembrance.
