Christmas and the Death of Goals

Well, maybe not the death but holidays do seem to really kill the chance to get anything done. I’ve constructed the paper model and that’s about as far as everything has gone.

I did manage to find a soldering gun buried in one of my closets so that puts me one step closer to where I need to be. I’ve decided that once I get the solder I’m giving up on the search for tin plate sources and I’m going to start using recycled tin (cans and such).

Lantern

I should probably be open and honest about this and mention that I’m already in the process of doing this. I haven’t gotten to the point of actually making the metal lantern.

Currently I’m constructing a paper model so I can see where the bends will go and how everything will fit together. I’ve purchased the metal punches I need to punch patterns in the tin. The only tools I need now is a soldering iron and the solder and flux to go with it. I already have tin snips and needle nose pliers (somewhere).

After I’ve got the paper model down and have purchased the remaining tools all I need is to find a source of tin and I can get started.
