I went to a bike shop today, looking into getting a reasonably priced one to practice on. As it turned out, the shop owner gave (free!) bike-riding lessons.
So I spent a little while wobbling around on a (slightly over-sized, I suspect) bike in an empty parking lot. I managed to make it glide a little bit, and never actually fell over…so, I think I did alright. I’m not riding yet, by any means, but it’s a start.
We’ll probably go back on Friday or Saturday…not sure when I’ll actually get a bike yet, though.

I suppose I need to find a bike first.
Can you imagine? Nineteen years old and I can’t ride a bike.
I mean, my Mom tried to teach me when I was little, but it seemed as though every time we turned around my bike would get stolen.
We left it in the yard…it disappeared.
In the shed…it disappeared.
In the garage…it disappeared.
In the house? Yep. Disappeared.
So, we finally gave up.
I’ve been teased about it off and on, and most people find my lack of bike-riding ability (mostly due to lack of balance…I’m dead clumsy and terrified of falling over) amusing.
I think it would be a very good thing for me to learn, as it would be good exercise, serve as transportation, and be a reason to get the heck out of the house on occasion.
