I just finished a week-long vacation in Thailand. While there, I picked up a second hand version of The Beach, by Alex Garland, in a small book store located near Khao San road. I thought it might be worth reading since I’ve heard pretty good things about it and because I was heading down to the southern Thai Islands of Phuket and Kho Phi Phi.
I finished the book during the week that I was there – it was a fantastic book, very captivating, very well written. I could picture a lot of the things the author wrote about (especially the start when the main character was living on Khao San road). My only dissapointment was when I finished reading the book.
I recommend the book for any adventure lovers, travel junkies, and lovers of great books.
Since “Read more books” is very vague, I’m quantifying this goal. Since uni graduation last May, I’ve read about 15 books. Given that, I’d like to set my goal for this year at 20 books. To kick off this goal, I just finished Sherman Alexie’s “Ten Little Indians”.
Next on the list: either a Harry Potter book (heh) or “The Famished Road”
