Write group, wrong time

This goal was prompted by a small ad in my local paper which publicised the guest speaker at an upcoming meeting of a writers’ group based in the city. Unfortunately, having made my enquiries, it seems the group is structured more like a formal course of study running from September to April. Alas, I was hoping for more of a boho turn-up-anytime, bring-a-bottle (and a book) type of affair!
Apparently there is another group somewhere nearby which might let me complete this goal as soon as I would like but I have next to no information about them other than an old programme of events from 2 years ago without names or contact numbers that I happened across online.
The plot thickens…
