Just got supplies to set up our own vegetable garden this year, that should help with the consumption rates, as nothing tastes better than fresh veggies you grew yourself! (And my 4 year old is already excited about growing our own food!)

A week gone by and still managing to get in my fruits and veggies, despite all the holiday junk. :)



So far so good 2 years ago

I made a deal with my husband that we’d both buy more fruit and veggies and try in earnest to eat our daily allowance of them (which even though we were eating some, we’re not quite there yet).

Three days down since we made our agreement and went shopping and so far, I’m doing pretty good. I think to help in this, I’m going to track them on the mypryamid.gov website since they let you know how much of each you still need compared to what you’ve consumed for the day—makes it a bit easier.



Reprogramming the brain & gullet 2 years ago

I seem to have made it through the initial phases of this and am getting more used to eating veggies instead of junk food. Meat is now an occassional side-dish rather than the main meal and I’m working on increasing my fruit intake. It’s not that I don’t love fruit—it’s one of my favorite things. I’m just not yet used to the notion that we 1) have it in the fridge and 2) I can eat that when I get hungry (the brain defaults to junk food, which we no longer have, so I just don’t eat instead.)



Did well today 2 years ago

Only a little bit of meat, no snacking in between meals and I managed a huge amount of veggies, which I keep forgetting taste so good when they’re steamed and not canned!



Shopping 2 years ago

Went to the store today, bought fresh fruits and veggies (lots) avoided all the canned food and candy. huge grin Now if only I’ll remember to eat it!
