Meg @ 3 and a half 1 month ago

She’s so much fun! I think the older they get the more stuff you can do with them. She’s still loving nursery, but we love having our family time together in the evenings and weekends.

In the morning when she hears my alarm go off she climbs into our bed between us and has a snuggle for 5 minutes before we all get up….I love that.

It’s Halloween in a few days and I’ve been explaining to her the Pagan meaning behind it. She thought it was cool, but the pirate costume we bought her for our pirate themed Halloween party is much cooler! lol

I’m going to help her carve her first pumpkin this evening – the pumpkin thing is a tradition for me which I want to pass down. I do very complicated designs of cartoon characters and spooky things, but I’ll stick with the simple jagged scary face for her one.

I really love Halloween, and this is the first year when she’s old enough to appreciate it too. I can’t wait!

It's been a long time 7 months ago

since my last entry on this goal…14 months apparently!!! Doesn’t time fly!

Well, full time work/nursery is going well. I’ve just negotiated with my boss to finish at 2pm every Friday from now on so I get some extra time with Meg :o)

We’ve been doing some cool things recently, coz now she’s older we can do so much more. We’ve been out in the garden a lot planting veggies and playing with water and drawing on the patio with chalks. I took her swimming this morning and we did some cutting, sticking and colouring yesterday. We also do baking together sometimes.

I really feel in touch with her now and despite being a working mum, feel like a proper mummy. I’m very happy :o)

Nursery 21 months ago

I’ve been working full time for the last month and Meg has been going to nursery every day. She loves it! Its probably one of the best things I’ve done for her! She was getting so bored at home, tantruming all the time and not enjoying my company too much.

Now both me and her look forward to seeing each other when I pick her up, and we spend quality time together before her bedtime routine. I love it, and we’re both so much happier.

We even took one side off her cot at the weekend so she can get in and out of bed herself and she’s settled in really well to that. She’s come into our room a couple of times, but it hasn’t been bad at all.

I love my Meggy!

Lonely 2 years ago

For the last week or so I’ve been feeling incredibly lonely at home with Meg. I really miss adult company. Its not like I never go out or anything….I do a Tai Chi class on a Monday evening and an aqua aerobics class on a wednesday evening…and I usually see my friends at least one evening a week.

Its just the daytimes that I feel so alone.

Update on Meg (19 months) 2 years ago

It’s incredible how fast they learn! Meg’s RUNNING, not just toddling now. She loves being free to roam around. She’s picked up a few words including Mumumum, Dada and cool (complete with 2 thumbs up!) Its so sweet!

I’m feeling like this is the most fun age she’s been at yet! Its great to take her out places now she walks beside me holding my hand. Hopefully its just gonna get better from here.

Little madam! 2 years ago

Meg had her MMR injection last week and the nurse warned me that the side effects take a week to show themselves. Well, a week later, I’d completely forgotten about this and was wondering why Meg was being such a little cow-bag!

The last 3 days she’s been grumpy, tired, moany and clingy and its been driving me up the wall. It also doesn’t help that I haven’t slept very well recently due to nightmares and food poisoning!!! What a life ay?!?

Caterpillar Babies 2 years ago

I took Meg along to a trial of a music class and it went really well. I’ve signed her up for 10 weeks starting 16th April. She found it fun, although she spent the time crawling all around the room and rummaging through other mum’s bags/the bin etc! She just won’t sit still! lol

My poor little girl! 2 years ago

She had her MMR jab and her pneumonia jab this morning….one in each arm! Poor little thing cried and cried despite being given a chocolate button by the nurse.

Cruel mummy….but I know its best for her. At least she doesn’t have to have any more injections now until she’s 3 years old.

Stay at home mum versus Working mother 2 years ago

I do enjoy staying at home and taking care of Meggy….I also like that it gives me enough time to get the majority of the housework done. After a conversation with mark last night I’m beginning to think that getting a job and putting Meg in daycare might be a better option though. We just haven’t got enough money.

I’m very sad about this…I’m torn because part of me thinks I want to raise her myself, and the other part believes that if she was in daycare 3 days a week I would enjoy the time I would have with her more. But then again, I haven’t been away from her for more than 12 hours since the day she was born. I’m not sure I could cope not being with her, even though she drives me insane sometimes. Maybe its a cop-out for me to palm her off on someone else?

There’s the money factor to consider most of all. At the moment we’re sinking, I’m overspending, and it can’t continue. Either I stop spending or I get a better job. I don’t know what to do.

The Party 2 years ago

It went really well. Loads of people turned up…as well as 3 other babies. Everyone got along, people ate the food, everybody seemed to have a great time…..and Meggy was the star of the show!

She looked so cute, and we all sang happy birthday to her when we brought out the cake (that I baked – chocolate sponge, buttercream and icing with smarties on top which was yummy).

I think the best part for me was that we had a constant group of babysitters in the living room with her so I could go off and chat to other people and relax myself. Often I stay panicky trying to make sure everyone else has a good time and start clearing up after people! This time I didn’t.

I’m so glad it all went well and I took lots of pictures throughout.
