The way I did it was, when I moved from Florida to Connecticut, I left (gave) my TV with a friend and didn’t buy a new one.
For that year, I never read so much in my life! I had subscriptions to 4 weekly magazines, three monthly, plus books, and I would run out of stuff to read. I apartment was always clean and I learn to cook a lot of stuff I always wanted to try. I also saved a bundle of money buy not spending it on a TV, DVD, DVD rentals and cable.
If you HAVE TO watch TV, like for a big game or some big news event, you can always go to a bar, or some friend or neighbor will let you watch it with them.
Bad thing is that you can’t have a movie night at your place, but instead you’ll break out the board games.
I don’t know that I could do it with a TV in the house. I think you have to go “cold turkey” and not have a TV set at all … but that’s me. Good luck.
