I got a job in southern China teaching English and I have now been here for 1 and a half weeks. It is a little tough to adjust to the language but the city I am in (Zhongshan) is a nice place to live.

With the help of my job search advisors I’ve been applying to schools in China, Korea, and Japan. I am very hopeful that I can land a position soon, but the whole process is a little stressful and the thought of being ready to pick up and move out of the country seems daunting. I’m sure it will all be worth it though. I hope I can get a good job offer soon!
I was able to come up with a résumé that I think is pretty good, but I still need to write a cover letter. Once I have both of them complete I will send them to the advisors at the company I did my TEFL certification with. Then they will review them and help me make any revisions that might be helpful to get me a job. This cover letter has me stumped though, at the moment. I will have to come up with something.
I finished my 40 hour online module and now I have a 100 hour TEFL certificate. It feels good to be done with it.
So what’s next?
Now I need to work on my English teaching résumé so I can start applying for jobs!
I’m going to try and get it done this weekend.
I have completed the 60 hour in-class portion of a 100 hour TEFL certification with Oxford Seminars. I would like to move abroad next year to teach. Once I have had my first day of teaching in another country, I will consider this goal complete.
