recapture the word family from the right wing and define to be inclusive of all families

Nothing can ef up you Monday morning coffee than reading this quote from our “President:”

Ages of experience have taught us that the commitment of a husband and wife to love and to serve one another promotes the welfare of children and the stability of society

Falacies! Everywhere! There is NO PROOF of this you moron! Children need love! I’m pretty sure we can all freaking agree that a child is better off in a loving home with two moms or dads, than in a home with an abusive mom or dad. This is just one silly example. And stability in society doesn’t seem to come with discrimination. (I could now go into a whole section about how war is not contributing to the stability of society).

Well, the “president” wants to back a constitutional ban on gay marriage. What a fabulous idea Mr. “President,” to include discrimination in the constitution.

Margeret Cho’s website, Love is Love is Love have some suggestions on how to act against this amendment. Does anyone else know of petitions or the like?

Don’t know how to do this one…but I still get shocked when people I know turn on me in this matter. For instance when I found out gay men are not allowed to donate blood. I told some friends of mine, and they actually said they understood because ‘gays are just more flamboyant and would tend to be more frivolous in their sex lives.’ I am guessing they haven’t come across a lot of ‘gays.’
I thought about deleting this goal because I don’t know how to go about it, but with 5 cheers, and great misconception out there, I’m keeping it. My strategy so far is to speak up every time someone makes a negative comment such as above.
I wonder what other people are doing to make this goal?
