I asked during my health screening today if they could test for my blood type, but unfortunately that was not an option. The nurse suggested I go the their blood bank. I explained the whole Creutzfeld-I-am-a-dirty-European situation.
She thought that sounded a little crazy too. But if I do get the full time gig, she said they could do it next year during my department’s physical.

I looked into donating blood at Red Cross and Carter Blood Care. However, because I have lived in Denmark for more than 5 years since 1980, I am permanently not eligible to donate blood in the US.
I should look into the reason for this. It’s linked to Mad Cow Disease (variant Creutzfeld Jacob Disease). I am just not understanding the 5 year criteria. If I can get it in 5 years, I am guessing I can get it in say, 3 years.
So, I will donate when I go back to DK, at Christmas. Unless of course I am not eligible because I have lived in the US for more than 5 years, haha.

I asked at the healthcenter if it was in the file from last time I had blood work done, and it wasn’t. I have to pay to have it done, so I will probably not do this until I get out of school and get a job…
