I’m well on my way here, and thanks to my fantastic professional ROLFER, Renate Kempf and my own dedication and body-awareness (and my mother’s financial support!) it’s a reality. I know how to help my body stand in a way that’s healthy and pain-free, and my body (thanks to rolfing) is able to move in that way.
Now my goal is to continue doing the stretches and exercises I’ve learned, to help reinforce the advancement in posture… and also to do my TRE exercises, something I now believe in and see as an excellent tool to help my body deal better with past Traumas and future stresses.
These developments are all pretty new and exciting for me; funny to think that two women and entire health professions/teachings have helped me so profoundly, yet only a year ago both were unknown to me. Life is AWESOME that way. Yes it is.

Therapy: gotta love it.
This week I have my first “Posture Class” with a physical therapist through my HMO. I’m excited about it, because the individual sessions I’ve already had with my physical therapist have really helped me to become more aware of my body and how my muscles can build a foundation of support, from the transverse abdominals upwards. (Yeah, she even taught me the fancy muscle names.)
I’ve had very painful shoulder, neck and back pain off-and-on for several years, since I was 24years old, which is too young. The key seems to be core abdominal strength, alignment and body-awareness. At the moment my “tansverse abdominals” are still in the embryonic stage of development, but I hope that one day without too much work I’ll have a glorious, strong and stable washboard. Not too much to ask, no?
One day I hope to walk like a ballerina…
