I picked up some Yukon Gold potatos. Now, I’m not a fries person, but I completely snapped this week.
I’ve developed a HUGE craving for thick fries made in olive oil with garlic & pepper.
Crazy.
I was hoping to expand my frugal pantry & jumped off the ‘healthy eating’ wagon.
But they were soooo good.

lots more soy in the house.
lots more yoghourt.
I’m microwaving popcorn in brown paper bags. There is not a bit of white rice or bleached flour in the house.
I’m determined to find a good bread machine recipe for french bread. Its amazing how easy it is to get those things @ second hand places. Makes a great, healthy loaf. Much better than the over-priced wholegrain or sugar-puff white bread.
Am apple, a slice of bread, tuna or a bit of cheese really is filling if the bread is a proper loaf! Sandwiches have always been rather nasty for me. But when I’ve made the bread myself, it seems “content-ful”, or hobbity.
So why am I not making bread as much as I should? You can set & time the things. I’m drinking tea instead of coffee, buy putting a tea table next to my desk, rather than coffee downstairs. Given that the stairs are crooked & I tend to slip on them… its really motivated me to cut the joe jitters.
Between drinking tea with milk (I have to learn to cut the SUGAR in tea, its as bad as pepsi, really, but I’m getting off the coffeemonkey slowly) & brown rice. I’m not that hungry. But I should diversify for ‘during the day’ food. At least breakfast.
That & my rice cooker. Man, brown rice is so much more filling & so much better for you than the white.
I’m eating like mad & I’ve lost 8 pounds since Christmas.
Now if I can figure out why I went bananas for homemade french fries in olive oil today. Weird. I never make fries. Ever.
