Take my *dogs* on a substantial walk every day.

I don’t know if it’s global warming or not, (it probably is) but after a month straight of our usual January rain, this whole month of February so far has been sunny and unbelievably warm. It’s nice especially at work, because I can hang out inside with all the doors and windows open (I like fresh air) and not freeze like I did last month.

I happen to have a weekday off today (and only a half day tomorrow, yay Las Vegas!) so I can air out the weener dogs and take them to the dog park. It’s hard to walk them in the rain (even though they look adorable in their yellow rain slickers) because they’re literally so low to the ground that every time theres a puddle in front of them they grind to a halt. Poor little ones. I’ve been working a lot so even they’re still being walked, its at night and I feel bad that they only get to have sunshine on the weekends and my random weekdays off. I’ll have to try and make up for it today. I’m sure all the mud at the dog park has dried up by now, (thank god) so maybe I’ll bring a book or a W and we’ll all get some rays. Aw, I wish I had some special Valentine treats for them.

Sally and Dallas bonded right away, and do great keeping each other busy. We’re still working on the walking part though.

Sally is actually way better on the leash than Dallas is in terms of not pulling and walking straight. The problem is, Dallas always wants to tackle and wrestle her while they’re walking so it can get a little complicated. We bought a leash coupler to connect their leashes together when they walk, and that helps. I guess I’m going to have to tackle it one block at a time.

The two weener dogs play so much in the house as it is, I find myself going on nearly half as many walks as I did when Dallas was alone.

I’m only getting this post done right now because they’re both sleeping…

The best things about living in such a dog-friendly nieghborhood is all the other dogs that are around all the time. Especially the other weenie dogs! Dallas loses his mind when he sees other Dachshunds, probably because he came from such a large litter.

We met 2 standard sized Dachshunds today, one wirehaired, one smooth. These little dogs are addicting, the bf and I talk about getting another every day. Whoa… restraint.

For now, I can vicariously live through other weener dogs at the dog park. :)

Seeing that I live between Golden Gate Park and Mountain Lake Dog park, this goal shouldn’t be to hard to complete. I want to use the 43things forum to make sure I’m being consistant about it!
