What could have been a disaster, turned out to be a great day and lots of fun. With temps in the 90’s and strong winds, we could have been in for a hurtful day on our bikes. But the organizers made the start time 7 AM and the morning gave us overcast skies. The cloud cover gave us some relief from the sun.
The ride turned out great and we all made the 100 miles in about 7 hours ride time. We made more stops that planned, but this saved us in the long run and contributed to the fun part. We all had a few problems along the way, but we helped each other and never let anyone give up, encouragement and positive thinking were the rules for the day.
We all were tired and hurting at the end, but a nice meal and some cool refreshments revitalized our spirits.
A good day and I hope our team gets to do this again next year.
This ride was for you Tom.

The big 100 mile ride is this Sunday. We are all prepared and ready to ride. One small issue is the forecast is calling for hight temps, in the 90’s. This will be the hot and we have not been riding in any heat yet this year. We will have to place ourselves and make sure we drink plenty of water. If we need to make an extra stop, it should not matter to much. It will just make the ride last longer.
I’m getting excited as this ride has taken on some special meaning.
This ride is for you Tom.

Four of us who will be riding the 100 miles on Sunday took the day off (it was a beautiful day, warm and sunny) to get one more long ride in before the big event. We did three loops out of the park for a total of 80 miles. We all felt good through out the ride. A bit tired when done, but we should be ready for Sunday. Just have to get the bike cleaned up and lubed so everything works.
This ride is for you, Tom.

Training Ride
Four members of our Tour de Cure team went out on a training ride this past Sunday to get used to the route we will be riding on June 8. We did the metric century distance (62 miles). It was a bit windy in the second half, but other than that we all felt pretty good about the ride. We are also looking forward to the century ride that day. Weather permitting, it will be a great day with all the riders going out to bring awareness about Diabetes.
This ride is for you Tom.

It’s one day from the end of March and I’m just getting my first ride of the season in. It’s just been too snowy. It was cold out this afternoon, about 36 and windy. And there is still some snow still on the ground. Guess I’m getting desparate to get going. At least I was dressed warm enough. And it did feel good to be on the bike and just be on the road. Turned out to be a pretty nice first ride of the year. Think I have some more goals to set up.

OK I have signed up to do the 100 mile ride, like last year. This year the goal is to ride without the problems that occurred last time. June 8 is the date so I have plenty of time to get training rides in and make sure I’m in shape to go the distance. As soon as all this snow melts, I’m out there.
