It is day 21 for our Burpee challenge. So 21 today, plus, like a dummy, I forgot to do the 20 for yesterday. Guess I just got busy with stuff and I just forgot all about doing these. So that means 41 for today.
Luckily, there is not much going on today and I have time. I have also found that doing these in sets of 5 makes it a little easier.
I better not forget to do these again as we are getting into some higher numbers.

One great thing about the company I work for is that it is very aware of the charity needs of our community. For our Burpee challenge, our resident lawyer convinced our management to donate $100 to the Ronald McDonald House once our group does 18,000 Burpees. (A and I picked this number as it was about 90% of the total Burpees done if everyone who signed up did all 50 days.) Nice.
And also, our company gives each employee two contributions of $50 each to any activity they participate in for a charity. We all can use one of these for the Burpee Challenge. We could raise some significant money here.
Now we just have to get everyone to do the Burpees and sign in when they get them done. That could be the real challenge. Or A and I have a lot of Burpees to do!!!

Before our Christmas break, a workmate and I were talking about a way to increase core fitness. I want to do something to supplement marathon training and my workmate, A, wants to just get started doing something. I mentioned a routine called Burpees that my son had told me about. A had heard of these and we talked about the infamous 100 day Burpee Challenge. This is where you do one Burpee on day 1, two on day 2, and so on until day 100 you do, yes, 100 Burpees. (A Burpee is a squat thrust with a push up in the middle. See video link below.)
As we talked we thought, why just have the two of do this? Why not make it a challenge for everyone in our workplace? So this week we sent out a notice to everyone in our building, about 45 people, to join us in a 50 Day Burpee Challenge. We picked 50 days so as not to scare people off and to make it less daunting.
Well, we got about 14 people willing to take part. I considered that pretty good. We start Monday (tomorrow) at lunch in our building exercise room.
This will be interesting. Some of the more fit people are hurt and can’t do this and a few doing it are not the ones i thought would join in. Glad to have them. No matter what, it will be fun and a good thing to start the year off. I promised a trophy at the end for those finishing. I guess if everyone finishes, we will have to make it a Stanley Cup type trophy. I can make “Certificates of Accomplishment” too.
Also, I tried doing one and the guy in the video makes it look easy. I actually suck at them right now. But I got 50 days to get good at them.
