This is a goal I am still struggling with. Some weeks are better than others.

I am still struggling with this one. I was doing quite well, but have been backsliding the past two or three weeks. There is a long weekend coming up, during which time I intend to focus more on this goal.
I am gradually making progress on this goal, primarily by changing my habits. As I finish eliminating clutter in a room, I have been making a concerted effort to keep that room neat, generally just by picking up after myself and dealing with items as they appear. Unfortunately, my husband is not changing his habits, so this is a bit frustrating for me.
So far, I have only two rooms looking neat—the living room and the kitchen.
In getting rid of my clutter in my kitchen & living room, I am also attempting to create new habits so that this does not happen again.
So far, I have been diligent about keeping the kitchen neat and tidy (although I must admit that the drawer dedicated to cook books & magazines is getting full again and I need to deal with that). It has only been two weeks, but I hope to keep up the good habits.
Actually, this is somewhat related to my goal to reduce clutter, which is partially why I am not tidier.
My biggest downfall is paper.
At home, my first plan of action is to dispose of all pieces of paper older than one month old, unless it is definitely needed, in which case I will scan a copy of the item or file it in a file folder.
At the office, my plan of action is to catch up on my filing. From that point on, each piece of paper that crosses my desk will be dealt with within an hour.
