Calipers take alot of work. 2 years ago

So I have been trying to get a good read on the calipers I just purchased. They are very easy to use in that you push a button, squeeze the arms and wait for the beep. The only problem is that one reading shows 14.0 mm, the next 21.0, the next 17, followed by 30.0. These are very good calipers, if you use them on something like a pair of dice, you get the same reading every time. The problem is in the pinch. I will try again on Monday to get an accurate reading that I can reproduce. Until then I will just have to go by the pictures.

I would suggest to everyone with this goal to not hesitate to take a few pictures of yourself in trunks. Halfway toward your goal you will wish you had.

I want 9% 2 years ago

9% seems like a decent number to me. Currently I am around 14%, so it seems doable and not that far off. I have measured with a Tanita electric scale in the past and it is a great tool. The only problem is that my roommate(s) wouldn’t leave it alone and would always put it away for me under the sink. The sink that eventually became the leaky sink. Needless to say…
I recently bought a Fatrak II caliper ($20) which measures the skinfold and is a good deal more difficult to use. However, it strikes me as a better tool because it allows you to measure each part separately, but then then the thing calculates the total% for you.
Anyway, I am alredy on a solid nutrition plan along with 5 days of running per my beginner 5K plan, and weight training on six days; I’m well on my way.
Tentitively I have set six weeks from now as a deadline for my goal. I weigh 175. I would like to lose 5% BF. 175*.O5= 8.3 . Dropping 8.3 lbs of fat in six weeks is well within the area of safe reduction.
Yikes, hope you enjoyed my novel.
Love to hear from you if you have questions or comments.
