some people put the wrong emphasis on happiness… “whatever makes you happy, sweetheart”, and that’s not always right, sometimes it’s false happiness… because of that, some people think happiness should not be focused on much at all, but that’s not true either. You need to be happy, but you need to know how. Dennis Prager says if you’re not happy you still need to act happy for the sake of the people around you, because unhappiness is contagious, and happy people do a lot more good in the world than unhappy people do. That makes a lot of sense. The “problem” is happiness is a choice, it’s your choice, you can’t wait for other people to make you happy. That’s why some people aren’t happy; they’re waiting for someone or something to make them happy. Another thing Dennis Prager says is you should be happy until something happens to make you unhappy, not be unhappy until something makes you happy. Even if you’re not happy, if you decide to act happy, you might change your mind, sort of trick yourself into thinking you’re happy until you really are. People do need each other, but you can’t make other people happy unless they decide to let you. Laughter is really healthy too, it lowers stress and cortisol, gives you energy, and relaxes you.
