Be a better friend

One of my friends from high school passed away on Saturday. It is so sad, she had been sick for a long time and was on a lot of painkiller. I think she overdosed on it or took it with something she shouldn’t have… not sure yet really.
The funeral services are this coming weekend. Fortunately I will be home for Thanksgiving so I will be able to attend her funeral.
It makes me so sad that I won’t be able to talk to her any more. It makes me ache that her children won’t know their mom. I feel such a empty sense of loss. I’m sure it’s just horrible for her family.

I think I am the one being the better friend, and sometimes I get walked on because of it.
Annoying!

I got to go visit several of my girlfriends in DC last Thursday night. We went to a little restaurant / cafe and listed to live music. I got to know one of friend’s (new) husband who I never really chatted with before, and also met my other chica’s new boyfriend. It was a lot of fun and it was great to see them.
It is nice to have friends all over!

Today I talked to two friends about their divorces. Their situations are completely different and yet I think I was a good friend in listening and validating what each of them is going through.
Relationships are so hard.

One of my best friends lately keeps taking months and months to answer my emails. She lives overseas so I never get to see her. I write her emails and don’t hear anything back. When I finally do hear back it’s like “what’s new in your life” as if she hasn’t even read my emails. It hurts.
It is a good reminder of how not to treat my friends.

I had dinner with a couple of my girlfriends on Friday night. One was visiting me from DC, two of them are moving away, and the other is a friend I just met that night.
Life changes so much!

I am going to attempt to see and visit with at least five friends when I go on leave next week.

Today I introduced a new friend to an old friend and they completely hit it off. My new friend Marlene told my old friend Xavi it was as if she had known her forever.
I just love when people click like that!!!!!! It made me feel wonderful!

to have a friend I can call at the very last minute and be like, yo, whassup, let’s go to Dairy Queen, and she’s like, let’s do it.
and we do.
