this is very frustrating when neither faculty member that i have contacted at my school has responded back (not the professor i asked to be my adviser, nor the manager of the space i want to use)! this is exactly why my school needs an event for women’s history month, because no one there is willing to even acknowledge it. it’s almost as forgotten as eureka’s castle… something very few of us can vaguely remember from years gone passed! it’s disgusting. women haven’t even been able to vote in this country for 100 years! this is recent!
today i did some research for literature, i also began to build a website that i will use to direct participants toward pieces that they can use, as well as the dates, etc. I would like to put the actual work online but I think that might be illegal so we’ll see. it all depends on how badly i feel like getting sued for copyright infringement when i’m ready to launch my web-page.

i emailed a professor to see if she would like to be my faculty advisor for this project in case the school requires some supervision. I’ve continued my research trying to find female playwrights with works available at my university. Last night I adapted a one act play to make it a two-woman scene. Also I have found a poem and excerpts from books that I could offer to non-actress students who would like to participate. I am really excited about this project. I only hope that I don’t spend all of my time working on this because I have a lot of schoolwork and other social obligations to uphold.

last year at my university NOTHING was done to honor women’s history month and I would like to turn that around this year. I envision holding a small staged reading from plays by female playwrights with parts for women only, along with excerpts from female authors read by women, and short biographies of influential women read by, you guessed it, women! Tonight I contacted the theater on campus to see if we would be able to use the space. I also started to research roles, a huge undertaking!!! I also started talking to my room mate’s girlfriend to gauge the interest other girls on campus would have. I’m off to a pretty good start. I can definitely make this happen!
