Today, I wake up and look into my pantry to find the softest food possible to eat for breakfast. Since having oral surgery yesterday, I’ve been drinking most of my meals. I’m feeling alright, and even yesterday after the anesthetic wore off, I was up doing laundry and doing light exercises on my bun & thigh roller (love that thing). Today, I am feeling even better, so I hope to get to the gym, much to the dismay of my sister (who is a nurse) who thinks it is ridiculous for me to be going to work out with stiches in my mouth.
So far today:
Breakfast:
Silk chocolate soymilk
150 cal.
3.5 g fat

Which is quite sad, because the only reason this is so is because I’ve just had my wisdom teeth out this morning. I haven’t eaten any solid food all day! Just drinking liquids and smoothies. I’m not even that hungry, which proves that I often eat out of boredom rather than real hunger. After I am able to eat solid foods, I hope I remember this feeling. That I should eat when I am truly hungry. I’ve heard lots of stories of people loosing 2-5 pounds after undergoing wisdom teeth extraction or other oral surgery. I think it is also attributed to the fact that you just want to sleep (the drugs knock you out!). This is a horrible and embarassing admission, but I hope from this nagging pain, I can loose a pound or two. Thanksgiving is Thursday, so by then I should be able to eat solid food, but I can’t gorge. Good.

This is going to take work. Wraping up the first week of my new eating and exercise plan, I’ve noticed some habits that will need to be overcome. For example, I start the day right, eat breakfast, drink lots of water, snack on foods that are healthy. But it seems by the end of the day, I mess it all up by grazing. I wouldn’t necessarily say the things I snack on in the evening are junk, but they’re unnecessary.
I need to grocery shop for fresh fruits, vegetables and avoid the freezer section and the processed foods in the center aisles of the store. I need to cut out alcohol altogether.
This morning, I ate an Activia yogurt and drank water. Let’s hope I can keep these good choices up for the rest of the day.

I am ready to begin toward my goal of losing 10 pounds. I know this involves conscious decisions about food. Weight loss can only occur if you expend more calories than you consume. So by eating fewer calories and maintaining my current level of phisical activiity or by eating the same amount of calories and increasing the number I burn with exercising should produce weight loss. But I think any responsible and determined person would burn the candle at both ends, so to speak, and consume fewer calories and exercise more.
So today:
Breakfast
Activia yogurt
110 cal
2 g fat
17 oz. bottle water and daily multivitamin

This is a really neat Web site! I am glad I found it; I think it will be a great tool to help me achieve many goals. I am 23 years old and have pretty much been considered in shape my entire life. I studied abroad in London this past summer, and along with spending pounds, I gained about 8 of them! I partied more than I typically do back at home, drinking potent beer and meeting new people (which usually involves food and alcohol). I want to be healthier and feel better about myself. That is why I want to (and will succeed) in shedding 10 pounds. I know I need to exercise regularly (I only do it about 1x-2x per week), be more vigilant about what foods I put into my body, and cut back on alcohol. Wish me luck!
