The last couple of years I kept riding the bike into town over the winter – but I recently realised it was making me miserable. I would be grumpy of an evening because I knew I’d be riding off into the freezing cold and dark in the morning, and having a lukewarm shower at work. Then it dawned on me that I didn’t have to do it – I could go to the gym instead! So that’s what I’m doing now – leaving the house at 5.30am (not every day, mind!) for a 1/2 hour walk to the gym, 1 hour of weights and a bit of cardio, then off to work. Compared to riding the bike, its luxury! Exercise helps to kept the seasonal affective disorder in check, too.

I’ve been a good egg of late with this one. I’m getting some interesting leg muscle formations, though I couldn’t say i have an arse like J-Lo just yet. (Mind you, I saw of pic of her in one of my crap magazines that I’ve vowed to stop buying, and she might want to get back on the bike herself – meow!)
