Im rethinking doing this this winter as its quite expensive and i may not even get to see Uluru. My friend told me about the Ghan and we talked about saving up and doing it next year. Ive found a cheaper option for a winter holiday which incorporates another goal. Also, Im not entirely sure Im up for another solo holiday. I had a blast in Broome but Im not feeling quite so adventurous at the moment, I want something easy that doesnt include the stress of figuring out what to do all the time and coping with being alone in awkward situations.

Darwin – a must
Kakadu (transport from Darwin via Greyhound buses)
seems very beautiful and is only 3 hours from Darwin
Uluru (Greyhound buses)
this is what i most want to see. Fark, its a 23 hour drive from Darwin! Unless there was some kind of stopover, this sounds like hell and I’d probably get incredibly motion sick even if there was. Damn.
Litchfield National park near Darwin is beautiful with waterfalls and a big pool. Isnt far from Darwin either.
Alice Springs (Greyhound)
seems like it might be a bit boring and is pretty far away from Darwin (17 hours via highway).
Arnhem land is on the other side of and includes Kakadu
Weather varies between the top end and the centre, june/july being best time to visit
