i met a harlequin great dane here in mexico and they seem perfect – gentle temperaments, not too much barking and not much exercise required either. “a good apartment dog” is how the owner described it. im leaning still towards one of these giant breeds that dont require much exercise, other possibilities are an ex-racing greyhound or the breed i cant remember the name of – theres one on my street, like a newfie but less drooling.
my only reservation is whether i can be around for it when part of me wants to live o/s for a few years still.

I am so dog crazy at the moment! Since visiting LA and realising that alot of people break into hollywood and maintain careers there from other countries, ive started to feel more like living here permanently is a more viable life option without having career drawbacks either. the dog at the top of my list now is the french bulldog – they dont bark or moult much and are pretty low maintenance. drawbacks are flatulence, stubbornness and breathing issues. unlike boston terriers they mostly all look cute as adults, too. i think i like the pale beige ones best.
i met a lady with a newfie the other day who said the females dont drool which is good to know. but moulting would be a big issue.
as far as big dogs go, a Newfoundland would be great, there sone in my neighbourhood and theyre so huge and beautiful! but apparently they drool alot!
at the top of my list, realistically, is: italian greyhound, french bulldog, boston terrier. i really want one so bad, but not till i know i can give it a happy life. ive wanted a dog ever since i could remember. we had a dachshund but my mum gave it away. i struggle to look after my cat sometimes, he can be quite bossy and attention-seeking and even destructive when he’s bored, so i think i should wait till i have a bigger house and more money and am more settled.
i just love dogs! im really obsessed at the moment. even though theyre stinky and alot of work and you have to pick up their poo and train them lots. i hope i get to have a big dog one day, like a kelpie or a dalmatian or a husky or all three!! maybe a black lab?
I love Kelpies! But theyre way too active for a lazy ass like me. According to the various online quizzes Ive done, reccommended breeds that I think are cute would be:
1. Italian Greyhound – He has a very loving disposition and thrives best when this affection is reciprocated. His smooth coat and low body fat gives him no protection from the cold. Quiet – this is a big plus! These guys are really cute, especially in all grey. Generally I prefer a more chunky masculine looking dog, but these guys do have a real grace.
2. Chihuahua – doesnt need much exercise and doesnt have any odour. could be a little on the highly strung side.
3. Schipperke
4.Boston Terrier -I love these guys but the waiting list is really long and theyre expensive too.
