I haven’t been in a while because I’ve been sick. Learned I have PCOS and the meds made me tired. The meds have been adjusted so now I can focus on the weight loss again. Of course, with PCOS causing the weight gain and the only real cure for PCOS is losing the weight, it is a catch 22. I changed my blog to reflect my new battle. Instead of “My Last Fat Year” it is now a PCOS journal.

Eating Out Raw
We ate out tonight because of the long drive to the health food store. That was a challenge for me, but I managed it fine by ordering a salad with grilled chicken and a side order of dry wheat toast. I made myself a sandwich from the dry toast, veggies and chicken. Then I picked out the best veggies from the salad (left the iceberg lettuce) and ate the rest of the veggies as a side salad to my sandwich. Not ideal, but you have to learn to live in a world not designed for a raw lifestyle.

My vacation is pretty productive so far. I did a short cleanse, started raw eating, hung a curtain rod in my bathroom, hung up my broom rack and got back on the elliptical machine.
Too bad I haven’t gotten any of my correcting done so far. I’m blocking time to do that tomorrow morning. My oldest gets her braces on tomorrow afternoon. She’s nervous that she won’t be able to eat some of the foods on the raw diet that she already has learned to like.
Tomorrow night we’ll be going to the co-op to stock the kitchen with our must haves that we can’t get here in town, like Stevia. My oldest found a brownie recipe online that is raw and requires no baking.
I’ve been eating canned fruit for so long now that I have forgotten how good fresh food tastes. Especially pineapple! I don’t mind the morning salt water bathes, it feels cleansing on the inside.
And this morning, I broke the 240’s … I weighed in at 239.5 pounds!

A New Freedom!
I did three days on the Master Cleanse and today, I went off of it. On the Master Cleanse you are supposed to have 3-5 bm’s a day, and I had 0 over the three days. Yesterday I grew a hump on my back and today I woke up with such a bad ear ache in my right ear that I didn’t want to get out of bed.
Around noon I looked at my husband (who is working in town this week, so I actually get to see him during vacation!) and asked him “how disappointed would you be if I broke my cleanse?”
He pretty much indicated that he would like to see me finish this, but the pain was so intense I could not imagine another day without a bm and waking up with another detox symptom as intense as the hump on my back or the earache. So I made some fresh squeezed orange juice, and oh-my-god it was the BEST orange juice I have ever had!!
(BTW, I started at level 5 raw today – so I’m not diving back to my bad habits)
I waited an hour, my stomach was fine – no nausea – so I moved on to a whole orange. Feeling better, earache went away. A storm was moving in and I was not prepared food wise to go raw because I hadn’t done that shopping yet. We don’t have a full health food store in this town (too small). We have one but it is open day hours and pretty much carries teas and spices, and you can special order local free range meats etc. Our health food shopping is usually done 90 minutes north of us at the co-op. So I decided to go to our local Hannafords (chain grocer) and get a few things. I ended up spending $90 and coming home with 3 very full bags of organic and raw foods. I was surprised that I spent what I normally do on a trip there and came home with more.
We are trying to get the kids involved so that we can reverse the damage of these few years of junk food we have been putting into their systems too. The kids have been reluctant but willing to try. When I came home with the groceries, they ran in and started helping me unpack the bags and got excited about the things they were seeing “I love grapes!” “Oh look, strawberries.” “Hey, these are like poptops.” (I bought some transitional borderline raw foods to help ease them in, after all, we are starting at level 5)

I’m using the book “The Raw Food Detox Diet” by Natalia Rose to help me with my transition.

I am currently on the Master Cleanse and plan on going raw in a week. My husband is totally on board with going raw too. My kids not so much, but understand, and we will be teaching them about food combinations and they can make their own choices away from home.
So here starts my journey!
