Learn to DJ

busted my right turntable, i think it’s a vacuum chamber problem… =(

i needed some new ones anyways, so i guess it’s not so bad; maybe it’s the dj god’s way of telling me i need to upgrade. anyways, eyes and feet forwards, right? =)

i spun a set for a group of friends sloppy drunk the other day and they all said i did great, so i must be getting good if i can do it drunk, right? hehe, oh well, keep on truckin’

i think i’m getting to be a pretty decent dj now, about 20% improvement or so and i might actually start telling people that i can dj, some of my dj friends are really supportive of me and my efforts, so that has been great. starting to learn to scratch, lots of practicing necessary, but hey, it’s awesome right? onwards we go…

So I spun at a house party for the 2nd time, and in spite of being pretty trashed I managed to do alright.

I’m putting a checkmark in the win column, goal’s not over yet but at least i’m making good progress.

Just recorded my first mix… it’s alright, about 15% away from something i wouldn’t delete from my hard drive. hooray for djing!

Bought a lot of my favorite tunes off of ebay, try to do like an hour of djing a night if I can get it, slowly but surely getting better. DJing = best job ever…

I’ve been a techno-head for like 8 years now, and have dj decks and get to practice occasionally. I put it off for a long time because of work pressure but now i’m finally getting back to it and it’s wonderful. For anybody who wants to dj, I would recommend really familiarizing yourself with the tracks in the genre of music you want to dj, find a good online radio station and keep it going all day; knowing your music really helps the process.
