I think I finally figured it out, though, to my avail my scream is kinda more metal-ish than I was hoping, though I think I should be able to get it higher with time. It’s kinda like a Escape the fate scream, not the really low metal one, but the scream in between. I love doing it, my friend managed to get his scream right at about the same time as me, so we keep singing shit and combining our screams, really fun.
I have to say though, mine is definately louder than normal speaking voice, not too much, but definately louder.

I just can’t get it. Ok, let’s just take someone famous’s voice, Spencer Chamberlain from Underoath. I just can’t figure out how to get the raspiness on my voice.
I know people have explained so many times how to do it, but I’m just gonna ask again.
Is it kinda like whispering the screamo, and then using your stomach to push out the sound a lot harder? Because so far, doing it that way has felt the most natural, it doesn’t hurt, it’s not uncomfortable, yet, the sound isn’t raspy. Should you use your voice at all? because it seems as if you only use your stomach.

I’m kinda curious, I’ve been trying to do this for a few weeks now,to no avail. Can somebody please tell me, to be able to scream like Atreyu or Underoath, do you need to have a good singing voice? Both of those bands (or, at least the screamers in them), scream in a kinda clear voice, instead of screaming like Alesana (for example)which is high pitched and hard to hear the lyrics.
I’m not really sure what to do with my throat, I know I use my diaphragm to push out air, and kinda squelch it using my throat, is that right?
